Proud to be editing another film with my longtime friend and collaborator-producer, Darren Moorman. Around 1/3 of this is in Mandarin, which is presenting a new challenge for me. The story is so inspiring, and I can't wait to get it out to the world.

I've been extremely fortunate to have been continuously working during these challenging times. Here's a trailer for 911 Lone Star that I edited for Fox. Sound design & music editing by moi, too.
Forgot to put this spot up that I did last year. Mercedes playing lead with Chicago as the backdrop.
Daryl doing what Daryl does... or is it Norman? Doing The Walking Dead spots is always a blast.
LOVED working on the four Property Brothers spots for Dish. This one might be my favorite.
I love cutting co-branded spots for Bacon & Sons. This is one of four that I did with the "Property Brothers".

So, they have electric street cars in Belgrade, like in San Francisco. There’s a huge park in the middle of the city where they loop around and go in different directions. The park is lined with cafes around the perimeter. Really cool. Except...
I was walking back to my hotel from one of the restaurants, chatting with the director last night when suddenly, my step dropped around two feet. My foot went through an opening between the rail tracks where there was supposed to be a grate. My right leg was subterranean up to my knee! The gap I stepped into was barely wider than my foot and I somehow perfectly stepped into it without injury. For a moment, I was stuck in the middle of a live track, but all is ok with barely a scrape. I was very fortunate.
The BIG3 draft is tonight. Reminds me of that time I got to spend the day with Ice Cube in the edit bay. Great guy.

It was a busy fall, spending a lot of time at Fox Sports, cutting promos for several sports properties.
Sports promo editing takes a unique combination of skills, almost always requiring the ability to edit a full-length music track down to :30, integrating motion graphics, and pulling the right action shots out of a multitude of choices. Having the ability to communicate and coordinate with graphic designers and sound mixers is key, as well.
Haven't posted for a while because I've been so busy. Here's a reel of some of the sports promos I've cut the past few months....

This is a great film I edited last year. Really looking forward to seeing it hit the theaters.
Tim Tebow is executive producing his first film with his brother Robby, the inspirational sports drama "Run the Race." He tells USA TODAY about his experience and his first cameo role.
Had to put a car reel together for a job I'm up for. Fun stuff over the years...
Acura, Subaru, SCION, NASCAR, Toyota... Lots of spots I've done over the years, from beauty spots to co-branded, to edgy and fun.
Last week, I got the cool surprise of working with Ice Cube on this :60 and a :30 cutdown for FoxSports. Full disclosure: there was an existing edit that Ice Cube was unhappy with and I was the fixer, so to speak.
Really nice guy and fun to work with.

16 years ago, I edited this short film based upon a night in the life of James Cole, directed by Jay Holben. It was a joy to cut my teeth on my first narrative, longer than 60 second edit. If you've got 20 minutes, take a look...

This is something I have been waiting to announce for a long time. Last night, a documentary was released on Amazon, iTunes and Google Play about the entire case surrounding the death of Sarah Jones during shooting on the first day of production of Midnight Rider in 2014.
Since 2005, I have worked with filmmakers Randy & Jody Miller on five films. These films screened before a national theatrical audience, two of them premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and between them all, I worked with three Oscar winning actors, and several other Emmy and Golden Globe winners. Like me, many members of the cast an crew worked on multiple films with Randy and Jody.
Midnight Rider was going to be my sixth film with them. On Thursday, February 20, 2014, I received a call sheet that stated that the first day of shooting would begin late afternoon that day on a train trestle in Doctortown, GA. It was a 90 minute drive to the location, and I didn’t want to wait until the next day to receive the dailies. So, I drove to the set to pick up the video cards after the shoot was over.
I arrived outside the security gate of the Rayonier paper mill as Sarah Jones and several other crew members, including Randy, were running for their lives to flee an oncoming train. Most people know that Sarah died on that trestle, and the cameras never rolled beyond that day.
This tragedy set forth a series of events that for many, fought to strengthen film production safety in Sarah’s memory, and for others rallied an industry to prosecute Randy Miller and Jody Savin, and execute their own form of justice before a trial had ever occurred.
Because of my decade-long relationship with Randy and Jody, I couldn’t believe that they could be so reckless. There are so many personal character traits I know about them that I felt in my heart that they would never knowingly risk everything “just to get a shot”. And after participating in the making of “Trial of Midnight Rider: Railroaded in the Deep South”, my belief is not only confirmed, but I feel that Randy was willfully scapegoated by everyone else who had something to lose if they told the truth.
To all of my friends in the film industry, I beg you to watch this version of the other side of the story. The entire documentary is based upon the sworn depositions from people who are either responsible for Sarah’s death or gave vital material evidence that would have cleared Randy of all responsibility if only the district attorney and police in Georgia did not have a different agenda.

The infamous bathroom: Reincarnated.
Co-branding & cross-promotion: Maximizing one's reach by tapping into different spheres of influence through an entertaining message. This Clio Award-winning spot I edited brought the stars of the movie, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising into the milieu of zombie fans on AMC.
Seth Rogan & Zac Efron enter the zombie apocalypse.
As an editor, the ability to work collaboratively with graphic designers is key in many commercial and promo projects. This college basketball spot I edited is a prime example of that.

Working on CBGB was so much fun for many reasons, but a few big ones were Alan Rickman, the music and being able to design over 40 motion graphic transitions in an homage to John Holmstrom from Punk Magazine.
CBGB was the third film I had the honor to edit which Alan Rickman starred in. I am highlighting this scene because of the editing, graphic design and music elements.…
Realizing it's been 10 years since Bottle Shock premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. What a blast it was to edit this movie. It's aged well!
