Harlan County's Free Emergency Weather Notification system is now even easier to sign up for. This system is called Hyper-Reach, and it works by alerting you to all weather warnings issued for your location to your choice of home phone or cell phone. In addition to weather alerts, the system can also send you local updates from the Emergency Management office letting you know about water distribution sites, help in missing person cases, or instructions for the community in times of disaster and emergencies such as shelter locations or evacuation notices. These alerts will help us keep you informed as soon as warnings are issued, straight to your phone. Facebook and social media are great tools, as are the outdoor warning sirens, but both have limitations when it comes to quick and widespread warning. Signing up for this Free notification system sends the alerts straight to your phone no matter the time of day, and is the very best way to stay informed. Signup is quick and easy, and we now have multiple ways to sign up. You can use the website, tell your Alexa to sign you up, scan the QR code you see, or you can contact myself or Clayton here at the Emergency Management office between 8 am and 4 pm and we would be happy to get you signed up. All we need is a name, address, and phone number to make sure you never miss another weather alert for your area. This is one of the very best tools to Stay Safe and Be Prepared Harlan County!
