Important information for international students who plan to work while studying:
• You can only work in Canada as an international student if your study permit conditions say you can.
• If you are eligible to work off campus, you can only work up to 24 hours per week while classes are in session.
• Working more than you are allowed is a violation of your study permit conditions, which can have serious consequences.

On our asylum stats page, we include a graph showing the number of people apprehended by the RCMP crossing the border who state their intent to claim asylum. The data update showed a significant drop in these apprehensions between March and April 2023. This is a result of expanding the Canada–US Safe Third Country Agreement across the entire land border.
