Finally opened the coop door to let the flock get some sun. While they were out, I grabbed their kiddie pool to make them a dust bath for inside the coop (filling the pool is dusty!). They loved it last year and this year they are dealing with scaley mites! So I added DE to the bath to help with that. Hopefully it'll help them stay entertained while they are cooped up for these cold days!

This run needs some work. I took the top 2' fence expansion off to install mesh instead. Buuuut...

This run doesn't have easy access unless we crawl under the coop. So, today decided to put in a door. Of course I measured once... wrote the width down... and somehow magically made the door like 6" too short 🤣🤣🤦‍♀️ meh... no big deal! We had a couple scrap 4x4's laying around. One of which had a hook stuck on it so that was a bonus! Additional chicken snack hanger at no charge 🤣🤣 zip tied it all together and moved on lol! It allll worked out in the end lol. Just gotta trim the zip ties and run some mulch up there tomorrow!

We spread new mulch in the main chicken run so we could put mesh on top. Next will be the playhouse run!

I love how my new phone lightens up night pics! Clocked out at 1130pm... BUT another busy job is done heading into Sunday. I bought 2" bird netting on Amazon (Surprisingly cheap... only $25 for a 50'x50' chunk!). Now fingers crossed that it keeps the chickens from jumping out and possibly keep predators out. Luckily, we've never had any predators in the run but better safe than sorry!

Farm savings tip post... if you're looking for free wood chips... look around for local right of way workers! We've had Asplundh tree service clearing cloverlands right aways nearby. I stopped and offered our place as a dump site so they don't have to drive so far to unload. Win win!
