Hello, I am COL Paul Carsen and I am honored to currently serve in the Army Reserve as the 176th Medical Brigade Commander. I have 33 years of service, starting in 1992 an Infantryman. After 10 years of enlisted service, I attended the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) and graduated in 2003. I have served in a variety of units to include armor, aviation, and special forces. And I have deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Germany. When not serving in an active role, I practice emergency medicine in Clarksville, TN. Additionally, I am a graduate of the Army War College. I seek to continue to expand education and professional development opportunities for all SAPA members. I will advocate for SAPA to increase our advocacy for the furtherment of our profession. Further, I serve all SAPA
members and consider all points of view when making decisions. Lastly, the Army Reserve breakout had two excellent speakers this year at our conference and was very well attended. I seek to expound upon that at our
2026 conference. I am humbled and honored to serve as the Reserve Director.
