A lifelong student of American history and global affairs, Jones majored in History at the University of Texas Arlington before beginning his broadcast career a
t legendary rock station KZEWâFM (The Zoo) in Dallas. In 1980, he met Janel, the stationâs new music director, who later became his wife. For nearly four decades, they have worked sideâbyâside in radio, traveled the world, and raised two exceptional children. Following their time at The Zoo, both were selected as original air staff for the launch of KOAIâFM, The Oasis, where Charley served as News Director and Janel as Music Directorâeach hosting topârated programs. In 1992, Jones received the longâawaited âtap on the shoulderâ and joined the Texas State Network, where he hosted Texas Overnight for the next 25 years. He was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame (2002), served as a political commentator for CBS Television and the BBC, and received the Vivian Castleberry Award from the Association for Women Journalists. Charley enjoys time with his wife, their grown children, new grandchildren, and lifelong friends. His favorite quiet pastimes include riding motorcycles, time at the shooting range, and observing the Texas night sky through his telescopes. About the Show
