Celebrating 15 Sweet Years of The Gingerbread Stroll 🍬🏡

The Gingerbread Stroll marked its 15th anniversary in 2025 with another inspiring season of community generosity. Thanks to the incredible support of local residents, artisans, and businesses, the event raised more than $33,000, with 100% of proceeds going directly to charity.

Since its beginning, The Gingerbread Stroll has contributed over $330,000 to help children in need across Dallas County, with the majority benefiting Community Partners of Dallas, supporting abused and neglected children.

Fifteen years strong, this beloved tradition continues to bring neighbors together to make a meaningful difference—one sweet stroll at a time. 💙

Dallas History Makers Awards for Excellence ✨

The Dallas Historical Society proudly celebrated the 43rd Annual Dallas History Makers Awards for Excellence Luncheon at the Fairmont Hotel’s International Ballroom, honoring the 2025 award recipients alongside friends, family, and leaders from across our community.

Guests were welcomed by Karl Chiao, DHS Executive Director, and luncheon co-chairs Samantha and Scott Goldstein before enjoying a beautifully prepared three-course luncheon. Stewart H. Thomas, Master of Ceremonies, guided the program, recognizing honorary chairs Marnie and Kern Wildenthal and highlighting DHS’s mission to celebrate history in motion—where the past ignites the future.

Through inspiring videos, each honoree’s often untold story and lasting impact on Dallas was shared, culminating in the beloved A.C. Greene Champagne Toast. Established in 1981, the Dallas History Makers Awards honor individuals and organizations whose leadership and service continue to shape the quality of life in Dallas.

🐴 Meet the SMU Peruna Handler Team! 🐴
Eight talented students — Caleigh England, Lydia England, Jamie Gross, Ashley Jones, Nate Lovasz, Ben McDanald, Joshua Wen, and Team Captain Adam Harper — are the heart and soul behind Peruna IX, SMU’s beloved live mascot. From running the Peruna Run after touchdowns to leading the Mustang Walk Parade, making appearances on The Boulevard, and even attending other sports events, these Handlers ensure Peruna brings Mustang spirit everywhere he goes.

Peruna IX, an 18-year-old miniature black stallion, has been a symbol of SMU pride since 1932. With care and dedication from the Martin family and the Handler Team, Peruna continues to dazzle fans at every game — including trips to ACC playoffs!

The Handlers train tirelessly, grooming, harnessing, and transporting Peruna while balancing their studies, athletics, and leadership roles. Their diverse talents and passion for SMU spirit make every game day unforgettable.

🎉 GREET MAGAZINE — YEAR IN REVIEW EVENTS OF 2025 🎉

As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect on a year filled with culture, creativity, and community. Highlights included the 40th Anniversary of La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, raising record funds for local schools and nonprofits, and cultural celebrations like the 30th Anniversary Highland Park Literary Festival, HP CultureFest, and the HPMS Raider Drama production of Grease: School Version — the largest in the middle school’s history.

Our communities also came together for the Park Cities 4th of July Parade, celebrating America the Beautiful, with Advance ER taking home the Best Float award.

2025 was a year of tradition, artistry, and giving back — a reminder of the heart and spirit that make our community shine. ✨💛

This year, we shone a light on the local heroes who uplift our community, from wellness warriors to education trailblazers. Home and real estate champions included Honey Homes (home maintenance), Seal Tex Metals (custom metalwork), Love That Door (custom doors), and Elliott & Elliott (local real estate). We celebrated game-changing professionals like Carlos Morales of Morales Walker PLLC (family law). Our focus on wellness was strong, featuring fitness studios like Tight Dallas (Lagraag), clinics such as Serving Life (Chiropractic), Therapy by Clinton (massage), and specialized providers like Park Cities Pediatric Dentistry. And in education, we spotlighted innovators like Primrose School (early learning) and The Cambridge School of Dallas (classical Christian education), with events amplified by services like DJ Sonny Dayz. 🌟

✨ LEAP Global Missions 2025 Gala — Miracles in Motion ✨
This year, guests gathered to celebrate LEAP Global Missions and their incredible work bringing specialized surgical care to underserved children around the world. Chaired by Stephanie and Michael Byrd along with Dr. Michael Lee, the gala honored the mission inspired by Christ’s love to heal, serve, and transform lives. 🌍💖

From mingling at the reception with wines, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres to a full-capacity ballroom, the evening featured inspiring stories, including brave children like Dominic in Belize, and heartfelt reflections by featured speaker Babe Laufenberg. Videos showcased LEAP’s work in Mexico, Ukraine, Belize, and Zimbabwe, demonstrating how miracles truly happen through their surgical teams.

A spirited live auction and paddle raise brought in additional funds to support LEAP’s mission. Guests left inspired, knowing their contributions directly change lives and bring hope to children and families in need.

Next year marks LEAP’s 35th Anniversary, and this gala — their only major annual fundraiser — ensures the organization can continue providing life-changing surgical care around the globe.
