Pumpkin Sweets, An Adventure & Historical Novel set in South Buffalo, NY. How much fun and trouble can a few boys get into? Is there a Seneca Indian curse over the area? Answers to the future may be buried in the past.
Pumpkin Sweets - An Historical Novel of One Boy's Adventures Growing Up in South Buffalo, NY - by Clarence Paul Robertson This is a true story (mostly) of one boy's experiences growing up in the early post-Pioneer days in the relatively new neighborhood of South Buffalo, New York. The adventures take place on streets named, Seneca Street, Indian Church Road, Buffum Street, Cazenovia Park, Mineral Springs, and more. Filled with original maps, historical information, illustrations, photos, and newspaper clippings that accompany Clarence and his older brother Allen's childhood adventures in the early 1900s. Travel back in time when Indian lore and artifacts were aplenty and boyhood remembrances with family and friends lead you through journeys and places such as a home farm called, "The Nook," a secret place nicknamed "The Cave," bright, beautiful, and muddy discoveries of wildlife in a place referred to as "The Swamp." These are places you may not remember now, but with a little shaking off of some dusty memories, and attending "History and English class" with Clarence, you may discover that you yourself, have lived these very same experiences! History can be exciting, fascinating, and fun especially when you realize you may have been a part of it!
