Millions of people alive today were either not born when 9/11 happened or were too young to remember it. For one generation, September 11 is a vivid personal memory. For the next, it is becoming history.

In another 25 years, 9/11 may feel the way Pearl Harbor does to many Americans today: deeply important, deeply respected, but no longer something most people remember happening.
Our responsibility now is to make sure the stories, the sacrifice, the courage and the unity are carried forward.
