Billions of dollars are spent to make sure you don’t have peace.

I remember maybe 10 years ago listening to an NPR piece on the advertising industry where companies spent millions to send their employees to an advertising guru who would distill all the emotions a product was supposed to illicit from the target audience into one word.

I remember the one he said for Hummer was dominance or something like that. When you drive a Hummer you the ish and you’re the king of the road. So if you want to own the road you need to spend $100k to get yourself a Hummer.

The FB, Insta, Tik Tok ads are all here to make you disquieted in your soul. Their goal is to always make you find something inadequate in your life that the product will address.

I’m all for self improvement, but when it gets to the point where you have no peace because you want this and you want that it becomes a burden and even moves into bondage/idolatory.

May we be so complete in Him that everything else is a bonus.

May God give us the peace that passeth all human understanding. 🙏🏾

The tv, the tablet, the phone are now our idols (for a lot of us anyway, admit it or not).

Most of the time we’re watching funny videos, inspiring people, true crime, political things, fashion, makeup, fitness, etc, etc.

How much of our time do we spend reading, listening, meditating on the word of God? For me, very little 😞.

How about you?

Let us return to our First Love. At His right hand there are pleasures forevermore. More than whatever else we’re spending our lives on because one day we must give an account of how we used the time He gave us.

We’ve been saying/typing rest in peace a lot lately.

Friends, family, young people in Sierra Leone devastated by the epidemic. 😭

Then I wondered where this that I have been saying came from. It’s Isaiah 57:2.

We express this sentiment for all but apparently not everyone will rest in peace. (Not a pleasant thought at all). It has a specific condition that it is only those who live “uprightly” that will enjoy this rest.

May God give us the grace to live such lives and ultimately enter into this rest if the Lord tarries. 🙏🏾

They said your people were useless.
They said you’d never this or that and on and on.
Their words!!!

Some of us spend a lot of energy in an effort to prove them wrong.

However, who are they to be worth proving wrong?

Instead, sit in the presence of the Lord, gaze upon His beauty and ask Him to beautify your life. 🙏🏾

I’ve been fixated on this verse (Psalm 36:8) for the past couple of weeks.

I knew God had treasures, pleasures, mansions, precious stones, peace, healing, etc., but I didn’t know He also had a River of Delights.

I’ve been trying to imagine all types of delightful things and even in my finite imagination it’s mind blowing. Can you imagine some of the things God has flowing for you down this river? What will your life look like, what impact would you have if you were able to draw from these waters?

Sit in His presence and ask Him to reveal them to you.
