Here’s how we’re accelerating production:
• Directed AI Workflows: We treat generative AI as a controlled production pipeline—not a random tool. Using systems like ComfyUI, we create a modular workflow that manages continuity across characters and scenes, allowing us to iterate rapidly on composition, mood, and lighting while maintaining historical accuracy and fidelity.

• Gaussian Splats: Once scenes are finalized as AI images, they are converted into 3D Gaussian Splats. At last week’s IDSA DFW panel "Who is designing now - you or the machine?" Groove Jones co-founder Dale Carman went in with one specific mission: to be the "use-it-boldly" voice in a conversation that desperately needed one.

For Dale, the journey to this stage actually started 24 years ago.

While serving as the VFX supervisor on Spy Kids 2, his team built an on-set compositing system called Outpost. Dale coined a motto for it: creative at the speed of thought. Ten months later, that exact phrase became a Cinefex cover story headline. It had traveled from a studio floor in Dallas straight to the industry trade press, and Dale spent the next two and a half decades chasing that reality.

Last night, he showed a packed room why the industry has finally arrived.

Dale introduced the audience to Chip (yes—Chip and Dale 🐿️), an AI agent he built that lives on a Mac mini under his desk. Calling Chip "the most relentless collaborator" he has ever worked with, Dale shared how the duo co-designed an impossible optimization: packing three 1.6-million-polygons inside the Apple Vision Pro at a flawless 90 fps.

While Apple's team suggested cutting it down to 500,000 polygons, Dale and Chip crushed the efficiency metrics, dropping GPU draw calls from 1,074 down to just 142. Same 3D model. Same silhouette. A seventh of the processing work. Dale gave the creative direction, and the AI made it appear.

But as Dale pointed out, AI isn’t just about rendering pretty pictures; it’s about protecting human attention. By handling the heavy lifting and distilling complex business reports into clear, one-page weekly memos, the tech hands back hours of deep focus. The core creative pillars, taste, judgment, and point of view remain entirely human.

Dale noted that he has seen this exact movie play out three times now: first with desktop publishing, then the shift from film-to-digital, and now with AI. In every single wave, the people who got flattened were never the ones actively using the tools.

They were the ones standing on the beach, yelling at the tide.

His advice to the crowd? Don't be on the beach. Pick it up. Open it. Try it.

The future of music has arrived, and it’s a "No Brainer."

Huge congratulations to Dallas’ own Cure for Paranoia for winning the 2026 NPR Tiny Desk Contest! Out of over 6,000 entries, the band’s magnetic energy and their hit single "No Brainer" took the top prize.

But the celebration doesn't stop at the desk. Groove Jones has officially pushed the boundaries of how we experience music by capturing "No Brainer" in a groundbreaking spatial format for the Apple Vision Pro.

Using the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera, Groove Jones filmed the band in stereoscopic 3D with a 180-degree field of view. This isn't just a music video it’s a digital teleportation. When you put on the Vision Pro, you aren’t just watching the band; you’re standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them in a fully immersive environment.

How do you turn vast, complex datasets, like mineral deposits (copper, gold, rare earths), logistics hubs, and railway networks across 38 African countries into an intuitive storytelling tool? For the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), we designed a high-performance, interactive map application to solve this challenge.

Using a GPU-accelerated WebGL framework, we successfully visualized multiple complex datasets, including:
• Mineral Deposits: Mapping resources like copper, gold, and rare earths.
• Railways: Categorizing networks across 38 countries by status (operational, planned, etc.).
• Trade Flows: Showing commodity movements between countries.

We brought static logistical data to life with animated corridor flows and 3D arcs whose height and thickness reflect trade value. This dynamic, multilayered visualization empowers users to seamlessly navigate complex economic data, better understand investment opportunities, and see exactly how natural resources intersect with supply chains.

We partnered with the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) to deliver a powerful, interactive digital experience for The Africa We Build Summit 2026 in Nairobi. The goal? To accelerate Africa's industrial transformation and bridge the infrastructure gap.

We transformed their complex infrastructure and investment data into a visually compelling, WebGL-powered Interactive Map. This web application allows stakeholders to explore key infrastructure, resources, and trade data dynamically, shifting the focus from planning to active ex*****on. A great example of how emerging web technologies can elevate traditional data presentations into immersive, interactive experiences that resonate with modern audiences.

Big day at the Groove Jones studio. Dax Leepart (Pico) and David Kabelitz (VR Expert) came by for a two-hour hands-on with the Pico Swan, and it lived up to the hype.

We've been building VR content since the Oculus DK1, and the jump this device represents is significant. 4000 PPI micro OLED displays that actually replace a monitor. A dual-chip design - super fast. External puck so the headset itself stays light, with the sides open by default so glasses stay on. Clinical-grade eye tracking, motion trackers, hand tracking, and controllers all running together.

We were able to run some automotive and medical WebXR experiences we are creating and it was wonderful.
