THE LODGINGS AT DUNLUCE CASTLE
The Lodgings at Dunluce Castle were built to host visitors, divided into a series of small rooms, each with its own fireplace and window. Today, the inner wall has fallen, its stones resting where it once stood, a quiet reminder of the past.
While visiting, I met these lovely men who were carefully and methodically doing much needed conservation work on The lodgings at Dunluce.

DERREEN GARDENS ~ BEARA PENINSULA

Set on a peninsula at the head of Kilmackillogue Harbor and surrounded by the Caha Mountains, the garden at Derreen covers 60 acres.
The Beara Peninsula is one of my favorite spots in Ireland. It is often overlooked as tourists head straight to The Ring Of Kerry and miss out on this.

THE REGENCY HOUSE ~ BELFAST
Located in the historic Queens Quarter in Belfast, is an unexpected treasure. The elegant curved Georgian Houses date back to the early 19th Century.
This 5 star property has been lovingly restored. I took these photographs while visiting Belfast a week ago. This is a property I will be using for my clients.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF A JUNE BRIDE?
Listen to the very end to learn where we got June Brides from.
While visiting the spectacular Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland, with Mark Rodgers, Owner of we walked and talked for hours. I was captivated listening to Mark bring to life, the history, stories and traditions of this area.

At this stage, I’m not quite sure if I find them or they find me….!

I do all my own research. Visiting and staying in hotels is one component of my work but one of the most pleasurable aspects of my job is discovering and meeting the most wonderfully talent people.
Mayo man is one such person. In the world of ‘High Jewelry’ he has been lauded as one of the very best. His work speaks volumes. You can see for yourself by visiting his Instagram Page and website. The number of write ups from people far more influential & important than I, are numerous.

But, what I can tell you is that I love the person that is
The landscape on the west coast of Ireland is his inspiration. Watching him interact with other people, you notice what a kind and gentle person he is. He loves what he does. His family is everything to him. He loves to share his work and his process with you. No question is too small for Nigel. He lauds the work of other craftsmen as you can hear from this conversation when he talks about Stephen McGonigle
There is a boutique in and it was here that Nigel and I looked at some of his work.
I urge you to go look at his page, and see for yourself, why his work is in such demand.

THE BEARA PENINSULA

Jutting out into the Atlantic in the southwest of Ireland, The Beara Peninsula lies between Kenmare Bay to the north and Bantry Bay to the south, stretching across parts of County Cork and County Kerry. It’s far less visited than neighboring Kerry peninsulas, which gives it a raw, unpolished feel. It’s Ireland with the volume turned down and the soul turned up. It’s a part of the country I love.

You’ll find prehistoric stone circles, standing stones, and wedge tombs scattered across the land, often in lonely, windswept spots.
Brightly painted villages like Allihies, Eyeries, and Castletownbere add warmth and color, clinging to the edges of land and sea.

In the 19th century, Allihies, on the Beara Peninsula, was a major copper mining village. When the mines declined and eventually closed, large numbers of miners and their families emigrated to the United States in search of work. Many of them went to Butte, Montana, which was booming at the time and known as “the richest hill on earth” because of its copper mines.
For such a tiny place, Allihies has an outsized American story. It’s a classic example of how emigration tied rural Ireland to the US, but with an unusually direct and personal link that’s still felt on both sides of the Atlantic.
