Hello Elm Thicket/Northpark Neighbors:

Since we’ve had four home burglaries in Elm Thicket during the month of November, we wanted to share an encounter we had with someone who identified themselves as a City of Dallas employee.

The suspicious individual was a female, caucasian, about 5’2”, curly blonde hair, blue eyes. She had a raised dark mole on the left side of her face and a medium size mole on the right side of her face. She was wearing a long coat and a winter hat, and blue jeans. Photos are attached.

She was trespassing in our neighbors yard taking photos of the home. When I asked her what she was doing she said she was with the City of Dallas and doing an audit on the property’s landscaping. She said she had a letter of authorization which is attached below. She texted it to me. She said sometimes people have an audit before they sell.

My neighbor does not have any intention of selling her home. The neighbor called the police to file a report. I looked up the website listed on the “letter of authorization” and the alleged company has people take photographs of properties. That could be a cover for people casing homes.

Either way, we wanted to let our neighbors know about this. With the holidays upon us and package thefts on the rise, it is more important than ever for us to get to know our neighbors and to keep an eye out for one another.

More importantly, if you see anyone acting suspiciously please call 911 and report the suspicious behavior.

The Active Senior Adult Program at the K. B. Polk Recreation Center had their own Thanksgiving celebration last week with the most delicious homemade food you could imagine. If you know a senior who would be interested in joining the ASAP group please contact Ms. Tori Johnson at 214-670-6308. This is a really fun group of seniors who go out to eat, socialize, exercise, take field trips, play bingo, etc. It's a great group and another great example of how our rec center serves our neighborhood.

Friends of Bachman Lake along with D6 Councilwoman Laura Cadena and D6 Park Board Member Adam Medrano will be hosting photos with Santa on Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bachman Lake Pavilion, 3500 W. Northwest Highway. This is a free event. Bring your cameras so you can take your photos. Don't miss out on having the kiddos see Santa.

Help our K. B. Polk Elementary School PTA with their fundraiser tomorrow, Nov. 20 from 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm by ordering from the Cane's restaurant located on Mockingbird. The PTA works hard to support our neighborhood students and teachers. Let's help them out. See the flyer below for more details.

Here's an update on the construction along Mockingbird. The good news is the construction gets cleared up the week of Thanksgiving so getting to and from the airport should be back to normal.
