Ernie here....Once again, the nation twists itself into a knot over a non-issue. Jimmy Kimmel isn't a victim of anything or anyone....His "free speech" wasn't infringed. "Rights" have not been taken away. Please un-wad your panties and just stop talking. What happened really is simple: A highly-paid and highly-visible EMPLOYEE of a company was told to "tone it down." He chose not to. The company which EMPLOYED him decided to let him go because he was too much trouble. It is irrelevant why the company told him to tone it down...it matters nothing if it was complaints by affiliates (which is the case here) or complaints by advertisers or by the President of the U.S. What matters is an employee didn't follow instructions, and he was canned. This is not a "free speech" issue. It is as simple as that. Period. (The only reason this is a "thing" is because Trump attempts, as he always does, to take "credit" for it. He had zero to do with it.). Stephen Colbert getting cancelled wasn't a "free speech" issue. (Colbert lost his show because it was losing tens of millions of dollars...and the board at CBS has a fiduciary duty to the owners of the company to make money...not lose it.). Please stop trying to make these people martyrs. They're not. They're performers who lost their platforms. They'll find others and be just fine. Now, can we move on? Or are you too busy trying to make politics out of something that isn't? (And a quick edited-in note: I have been in the same boat...fired for various reasons, none of which I agreed with...but afterwards, it never once occurred to me that I was a "martyr" for free speech. I moved on to the next thing. Which is what adults do.)

Hypothetical…If a host goes on and says that Hi**er was right in everything he did, that is his FREE SPEECH and there is nothing that the privately owned company that he works for can do about it, right? They just have to let him keep saying it, no matter what, right? Even though the first amendment doesn’t say that, and this is a private company and he has no right to a job with this particular company, they just have to let him keep saying it, correct?

Because that is EXACTLY what the blowhards on the left are saying.

When Obama used the IRS to go after conservative groups, nobody was worried about abuse of power. When Biden weaponized the DOJ to try to put his political rivals in prison, nobody was worried about abuse of power. But, when a private company (NOT the government) punishes an employee for calling our leaders stupid, and racist at a time when someone was just murdered for being falsely labeled those things, everyone is suddenly VERY concerned about abuse of power?

I wonder why that is…
