We are so sad to hear of the loss of our dear friend and longtime supporter, Eric Foster.
Eric lived with serious health challenges for many years, yet he never stopped thinking about others. He was a talented writer, a creative and critical thinker, and a good friend who truly believed in our work.
We were deeply moved when Eric chose to create a scholarship at UT — not in his own name, but in ours. It spoke volumes about the kind of person he was.
We once wrote him a thank-you note that still feels right today:
Dear Eric,
You have changed two people’s lives with your thoughtfulness and generosity. We are honored to be included in your magnanimous giving. As filmmakers, we know the struggles, but also the rewards at the end. We truly believe some of our films have changed lives. Thank you for including us in your mission to positively affect young people with dreams and for helping make the educational tools they need possible. You are a true mensch.
Eric will be deeply missed. Our hearts are with all who loved him.
