I must add this: even "wild" gardens require maintenance. The Highline in NYC, which is pictured, may look wild, but its designer, Piet Oudolf, doesn't let his gardens do their natural thing, which is to morph and change through the years. He visits them and has the new plants that are grown through natural processes, such as seed distribution, runners, etc. removed, plants moved, and the garden held at its original design. This is labor intensive. The result is glorious, but it is not wild at all. The wildness is an illusion.

For some time, enlightened gardeners have grown away from contained, stiffly regimented beds organized around lawns in favor of free-form swaths of native plants, pollinators once considered weeds, grasses and wildflower meadows.

Our Managing Principal Matt Stubbs was invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for our Residence Hall project at
A really exciting project to continue to fulfill the master plan vision of the freshman village. We are very grateful to the University and for selecting us to be the for such an amazing project. We can’t wait to see it completed. We also learned that the it will be called Wessel Hall in honor of the Wessel family that has been very generous in their support and donations to the University.

We have had so many lovely remembrances of Kevin from the AIA, the Dallas Architectural Forum, the Garden and Landscape Designers Association (Ireland), and more.

Thank you all.

Thank you for all the kind comments, especially from Kevin's former students. He loved his work as a land planner and landscape architect, and he loved teaching.

As many of you may be aware Kevin Sloan, our Founder and Principal, has been battling brain cancer since his diagnosis in February 2020. It is with heavy heart that we wanted to inform you that yesterday Kevin lost his battle with cancer. We had to say goodbye to one of the most inspirational, talented and wonderful persons that we have had the greatest pleasure to know. We have lost a great friend and mentor, whose life, work and enthusiasm had a significant impact on many people, from his students to the individual that may have just shared a short conversation with him at an event.

The Kevin Sloan Studio Family will continue as ambassadors to Kevin's great legacy, always striving to be great stewards of the profession.

Please continue to reach out to us as we move forward but we do ask for your understanding and patience if we aren’t as responsive as we normally would be over the next few days as we process this significant loss to the Kevin Sloan Studio Family.

Kevin’s fight may be over but his mark on the world will be visible for generations.
