Nobody prepares you for helping your parents with big life decisions.

When my mom started needing more help, I assumed the hard part would be logistics. It wasn’t. It was the decisions — the ones with no right answer, where every option feels wrong and an hour on Google just makes you feel more alone.

Here’s the quiet part nobody says out loud: you don’t know what you don’t know. And you don’t find out until you’re already drowning in it.

I recently learned about The Home Team — a group of vetted professionals and resources in different cities who help seniors and their families (They partnered with me on this video, but this story is 100% mine.) I wish my family had known this existed.

If you’re in the middle of it right now, what’s the hardest decision you’ve had to help a parent make?

I read every comment, and I promise someone here has lived your exact situation.

Check out the link in the comments Or follow The Home Team or APlan2Age if you want a place to start.

And send this to someone who needs to hear it tonight.

Day 36/60

Money and Retirement Realities as we get older

I’m 60. Social Media talks about, if you have $3 million saved for retirement… WTH? Median retirement savings in America is $87K. 29% have zero… it costs a lot to grow old now

This is the club I didn’t want to join.

But you’re not alone. We’ll figure it out. Together.

If you’re new here, 60 by 60 are thoughts and reflections for 60 days as I turn 60. New videos in the series daily at 6:30pm PST.

We all know that sometimes, “I’m fine” doesn’t exactly mean what we think it does.

Especially when it comes to an older loved one, who may be a little embarrassed, prideful, or even stubborn.

It may be nothing, but “I’m fine” can trigger that little voice that tells you: Something isn’t right.

And THAT can cause worry for you

If you have an older parent or loved one who lives alone, you know this feeling.

There’s actually a name for that space between “they’re probably fine” and “do I need to do something?”

The worry window.

I sat down with Elizabeth Fay, founder and CEO of , and we talked about that window and the anxiety that comes with not knowing.

Especially when you’re across town, across the country, at work, traveling, or simply can’t get there yourself.

Konvoy is doing something I think a lot of families need to know exists: on-demand wellness checks performed by current, off-duty first responders.

Police. Fire. EMS.

Because sometimes you don’t need to panic.
You just need someone qualified to go check.

If you have an aging parent, a loved one living alone, or you’re the person everyone calls when something happens, follow .

This is one of those accounts you may be very glad you knew about before you needed it.

Meet Hazel. ❤️ We’re fostering this sweet girl here in San Diego through , and somebody out there needs to meet her.

Hazel is 3 years old, about 35–40 lbs, and a little pocket pittie. This is as big as she’s getting.

She is gentle, sweet, quiet, great with people and other dogs, and really just wants some love, attention and a person of her own.

I could see her being wonderful with a family, but also an incredible companion for someone older who wants a smaller, calm, loving dog by their side.

She’s ready for her person. We just have to help them find each other.

If you’re interested in Hazel, regardless of where you live, DM me or contact and ask about Hazel.

And even if you can’t adopt her, please SHARE this. Her person may be following you.

60 by 60 | DAY 29

I’m about to turn 60… and I realized that I lived a lot of my life like a cover band.

Performing a version of something that really wasn’t mine.

Career, marriage, house, kids...
From the outside it sounded great.
But it was something, that someone else wanted or created. It didn’t feel right or true to me.

I think a lot of us do this. We get caught up because it works.

We get applause, recognition, money and after a while we forget what WE truly sound like, or want. We’ve sung someone else’s song.

As I get closer to 60 I'm realizing
time's running out... but it's not too late to be the headliner.

FORGET YOUR LEGACY. NOBODY WILL REMEMBER YOU. CAN YOU NAME YOUR GREAT-GRANDPARENTS?
60 by 60 | Day 7

I’m about to turn 60. And around this age people start to spend time thinking about our legacy and how we’ll be remembered.

But maybe impact is a lot smaller and more personal than we think.
One person. One moment.

Something you said or did that they never forgot.

Who made that kind of impact on you? Drop it below 👇

60 by 60 | Day 34

I’m about to turn 60.
Too young to be old. Too old to be young.

And apparently a whole lot of us are standing in this same weird place right now.

Parents. Kids. Careers. Money. Relationships. Our bodies. Our heads. Looking backward while trying to figure out what the hell comes next.

Different lives. A lot of the same stuff.

What’s something about this stage of life that’s on your mind?

Drop it below 👇

SHARE this with somebody else who’s
somewhere between “I’m not old” and “how the hell did I get here?”

See you tomorrow.

Finding senior living for a parent is hard enough. Finding out what it actually costs shouldn't be.

Families want to know the basics.
What does this senior living community cost?
Is there availability?
What levels of care are offered?
What payment options are accepted?

And they shouldn't have to make five phone calls or schedule a tour just to get those answers.

Next Chapter Living is changing that by giving families access to real information about senior living communities, including pricing and availability, so you can research and compare your options before making one of the biggest decisions your family may face.

They now have 137 communities live and they're growing nationwide.

If you're looking at senior living, assisted living or memory care for someone you love, start with the information you actually need.

Visit Next Chapter Living and see what's available.
