🏫 PLANO ISD’S ENROLLMENT CONTINUES TO SHRINK

The district started the 2026-27 school year with 41,303 students, down 2,535 from the 43,838 recorded in October 2025.

📉 2,535 fewer students than last year’s count
🎓 14,000+ students lost since enrollment peaked in 2011
📚 Fourth grade saw the largest drop, losing 362 students
🏫 Four campuses closed after the 2024-25 school year
💰 District faces a projected $44.8 million budget shortfall
💵 State funding is estimated at roughly $10,000 per student

Sixth grade was the only grade level to grow, adding 17 students.

With enrollment directly affecting state funding, the continued decline is adding pressure as Plano ISD weighs staffing, facilities and programs against available revenue.
