On the cusp of Season 2 of Landman, we traveled to Crockett, Texas, for an exclusive interview with leading man Billy Bob Thornton a few hours before he and his band, The Boxmasters, gave a full-throttle, rock-the-house October concert in the newly renovated Ritz Theatre.

Whether they’re performing for thousands in the Amerant Bank Arena of Sunrise, Florida, or tearing up the joint in a smaller venue like Crockett’s Ritz Theatre, The Boxmasters are dedicated to demonstrating they are serious rockers — and not just a vanity project for some dilettante movie and TV star.

Which is not to say, however, that Thornton has quit his day job. Quite the contrary: The Hot Springs, Arkansas, native continues to rack up credits on a lengthy résumé that includes Landman the smash-hit Taylor Sheridan-produced Paramount+ series, playing Tommy Norris.
