Since opening in the spring of 1984, The Mary Collins Agency has been committed to representing a select group of the most talented and experienced performers in the Southwest. Our talent can be seen and heard on regional, national and network radio, TV commercials, documentaries, corporate videos, interactive games, television, films, computer-based training, live business theater, telecasting, a

nd work produced for the Internet. We represent several groups of “Specialty Talent,” including political voiceover specialists, Spanish performers, media personalities and performers with comedy/improv experience. On November 20th, we lost our long-time actress and friend, Julie Mayfield. Almost anyone who knew Julie referred to her as a bright light. Her laugh was big and infectious, her talent enormous, and she was always a joy to work with.

My agency has had the distinct honor of representing Julie for 35 years. She signed with us early in her career after already performing in professional theater throughout DFW, and from the very beginning she hit the ground running—booking on-camera and voiceover work for countless TV commercials, corporate videos, and radio spots. She appeared in films and television shows, and performed improv with both 4 out of 5 Doctors and Lone Star Comedy. And for nearly 25 years, she voiced characters in anime and video games, very recently lending her voice to the elder Queen Victoria in Black Butler.

If you knew Julie, you knew she had stories—and a spirit—like no one else. A few gems from her bio say everything about who she was:

As a little girl, she would dance on the hassock in her living room, pretending to be a backup dancer for the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, fully convinced she was the prettiest of all the imaginary performers. Later, in fourth grade, when another classmate was chosen to play Joan of Arc in a class reenactment, Julie thought, “Call that acting? If I’d been picked, you would actually hear my flesh crackle!” She was an actress from the very beginning.

Other actors adored working with Julie. She was always a team player—fun, generous, and endlessly creative. She meant so much to us, and I will forever be grateful that she chose us to be her agents, colleagues, and longtime friends.

A memorial service will be held in 2026.

Julie, thank you for the light, the laughter, and the years.
We will miss you dearly. 💛
