Rebecca Lockridge Named Director of Public Relations for WISD

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees named Rebecca (Becca) Lockridge the Director of Public Relations for WISD at their regular meeting on July 14, 2025.

Becca Lockridge has served as WISD’s Community Outreach Coordinator since 2024. Prior to her current role, Becca was the Area Community Coordinator for H-E-B Waxahachie. For many years, she has ensured a strong and positive connection to the Waxahachie community. When working with non-profit organizations, businesses, community members, and parents, Lockridge has made it her goal to establish creative and meaningful connections. She has a true passion for serving others and believes that forming lasting relationships between communities and schools has exponential benefits for everyone involved. She is proud to serve on the Boards for the United Way of West Ellis County, Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, Chautauqua Preservation Society, and Ellis County Museum.

Mrs. Lockridge is a 2000 Graduate of Waxahachie High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin University in 2006. She has received several local recognitions including Ellis County’s Top 40 Under 40, Waxahachie H-E-B’s Woman of Distinction, and the Christian Women’s Job Corps Rose Award.

WISD Superintendent Becky McCutchen said, “Mrs. Lockridge brings a wealth of experience in community engagement and has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to serving both the school district and the local community. Her creativity, strategic vision, and deep understanding of public relations will play a vital role in advancing the district’s communication efforts. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Lockridge into this role and look forward to the positive impact of her leadership.”

Mrs. Lockridge shared, “I am truly honored to step into the role as the Director of Public Relations for Waxahachie ISD. I believe that public schools are the heart of communities, and am excited to help share the stories, successes, and voices of our students, staff, and families. It is a privilege to be able to support the important work that is happening in the very classrooms and campuses that I attended years ago, and my children currently attend. I look forward to continuing to foster strong, transparent, and positive connections across the district and our community for years to come.”

Becca and her husband, Bill, have four children, Marissa, Adeline, Eleanor, and Everett, who are all WISD students.

Ben Bridges Named Principal of Finley Junior High

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees named Ben Bridges as the principal of Finley Junior High at their regular meeting on July 14, 2025.

Mr. Bridges has over fifteen years of experience in education. He served in the Technology Department at both Red Oak ISD and Lancaster ISD. He then taught at Red Oak Intermediate School before moving over to WISD as an English-Language Arts teacher at Howard Junior High. In 2019, he was named Assistant Principal at Finley Junior High where he has diligently served their campus staff and families. Ben’s ability to relate to students, gain their trust, and lead with positivity makes him the perfect choice to continue Finley’s legacy of success in WISD.

Mr. Bridges is a 1999 Graduate of Waxahachie High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies from Western Governor’s University in 2012. He then graduated from Lamar University with his Master of Education in Educational Leadership in 2017. He is a T-TESS Certified Appraiser and has his EC-12 Principal Certification.

WISD Superintendent Becky McCutchen said, “A proud graduate of Waxahachie ISD, Mr. Bridges has dedicated many years of service to the district. Notably, he once walked the halls of the current Finley Junior High building as a student, making this appointment especially meaningful. Mr. Bridges brings continuity and stability to the campus leadership team. His commitment to fostering strong relationships and creating engaging educational experiences for students are among his many strengths. I am confident that Finley Junior High will continue to thrive under Mr. Bridges’ leadership.”

Mr. Bridges said, “I am extremely honored to continue my leadership of Finley Junior High in a new role. Finley is an incredibly special place, and the students and staff at Finley are second to none. I am looking forward to taking our campus to new heights in the coming years.”

Ben and his wife, Jenny, live in Waxahachie with their two daughters, Stella and Parker, who attend WISD schools.

Ellis County and all of us here at Hometown Radio KBEC are heartbroken.

Flash floods swept through Kerr County overnight, devastating Camp Mystic and surrounding communities. At least 24 lives have been lost, and more than 20 young girls remain missing after the Guadalupe River surged over 20 feet in under an hour.

Rescue efforts are ongoing with more than 200 people already saved. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected and the brave first responders working around the clock.

Please join us in lifting up our fellow Texans during this unimaginable time.

Our Story

As the oldest running independent radio station in Texas, KBEC has been a prominent part of the Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, Hill, and Dallas County area since 1955. The station’s official motto is "Born in Texas, Lived in Texas, Played in Texas.”

When KBEC isn't playing Classic Texas Music, listeners can tune in for shows like "The Flea Market," "Drive at 5 with ‘Yo-Yo’ Dave Van Zandt,” and "Live in Texas." KBEC is also the best place to tune in for local Ellis County sports broadcasts by "the Voice of Ellis County" himself, Mr. Ken Roberts!

Listeners should also check out our extensive Ellis County sports coverage at sports.kbec.com, as well as tune-in to our weekly sports-talk show, “The Locker Room,” with Brian Stevens and Seth Sims from 6-7 p.m. on Mondays.

We play what our listeners request in the afternoon, so feel free to call us at 972-923-1390 from 4-7 p.m. and we’ll get your request on as soon as possible.
