Join your Host Ronda A. White and Guest Nikki Carcisse Patterson on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 3pm CST for broadcast of In The RAW on PowerPlay Radio Network.
Nikki C. Patterson is a certified educator, author, entrepreneur, educational consultant, and community activist. Nikki is also a champion for education reform in public schools. Her passion and purpose is to help improve the educational outcomes and experiences for minority students in low socio-economic settings. Nikki has spent the last 10 years of her career working extensively with school leaders to rectify the adverse effects of Brown V. Board of Education for minorities in public schools.
As a former minority student and educator who grew up with modest beginnings, Nikki, knows first-hand the inequalities and barriers facing minority students receiving a public education. As a result, she uses her training and experience to help nonminority principals create a culturally inclusive atmosphere where all students can thrive. Nikki has a firm belief that where a child begins, is not where they will end up if given the proper structures, guidance, support, and education.
As the author of the book, “How to Win as a Principal,” Nikki helps K-12 Principals working with minority students in public schools succeed as leaders, by attracting and retaining the most effective teachers, decreasing behavior problems, and building culturally responsive environments so that their students can succeed beyond the classroom. This process is strategically managed through a nine-step program Nikki created called DIVERSITY that allows the school leader to quickly diagnose areas of concern for school improvement.
When Nikki is not working to advocate equality for minority students in public education, she is spending time with her husband and son. The family currently resides outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
