Life With a Camera
My life with a camera began in summer camp in the Maryland mountains. My cameras have led me around the world, put me face to face with extraordinary people, heroes and villains struggling against the odds to leave a mark, a legacy. All I’ve ever wanted to do was to tell their stories, in their own words.
Everyone has a story to tell. I’ve found those stories on a jungle riverbank, in the halls of the Vatican, in concentration camps, in classrooms, on an Alaskan glacier, in hundreds of living rooms and kitchens and offices, wherever my camera has taken me.
I’ve asked questions and listened carefully. And then, alone in the editing room, I’ve fashioned these stories that show us ourselves, the secrets about how we live. And what I’ve learned is that, in a world of infinite differences, we are all pretty much the same.
