East Paulding High School AVTF Partners with Georgia Public Broadcasting
for Student Voices Collective During the 2025-2026 School Year
East Paulding High School has partnered with Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) to launch Student Voices Collective for the 2025-2026 school year.
GPB kicked off its Student Voices Collective initiative for the 2025-2026 school year with an immersive one-day in-person workshop at its Atlanta headquarters in June of this year. First launched by GPB for the 2024-2025 school year, the goal of Student Voices Collective is to help educators and students develop expertise in media production, narrative construction and journalistic ethics, while gaining a better understanding of the complex media landscape and civic responsibility.
On September 26th, 2025, Brandon Johnson, a sophomore at East Paulding High School, published his story East Paulding High School: What Students And Teachers Think Of The Georgia Cell Phone Ban which focused on the statewide ban on cell phones in K-8 schools. Brandon conducted interviews to learn how teachers and students were split on extending the ban to high schools.
“This initiative is about more than skill-building - it’s about giving Georgia students a platform to share their perspectives and take ownership of their narratives,” said GPB Vice President of Education Laura Evans. “Through the Student Voices Collective, these young journalists are learning to tell stories with integrity, purpose, and impact - and that’s exactly the kind of civic engagement GPB is here to support.” During the 2025-2026 school year, student journalist projects from East Paulding High School completed through the Student Voices Collective will be showcased at gpb.org/svc.
