A difficult time for many in the Jewish community, but also a moment of resilience and unity. Despite recent tragedy, the first Hanukkah menorah lighting at SMU brought together students, community members, and local police in a powerful show of solidarity. This holiday season, they choose light over darkness and hope to make the world a brighter place.

Early Saturday morning, a fire broke out at a North Texas apartment complex, tragically claiming the lives of two siblings. Firefighters responded quickly to flames originating from a first-floor unit and contained the fire within an hour. One resident managed to escape but later passed away at the hospital. Our deepest condolences go to the families and community affected by this heartbreaking event. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

Downtown McKinney is in full holiday mode ✨
The 45th annual “Home for the Holidays: A McKinney Christmas” is officially underway, and Friday’s big moment is the tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. on the historic downtown square. The fun doesn’t stop there — the celebration keeps going with festive activities through Sunday evening, so there’s still plenty of time to soak in the small-town Christmas vibes.

When the Grinch moves to Preston Hollow… 🎄💚
This nearly 9,000 sq ft Dallas mansion is BACK with an over-the-top Grinch theme, from the lights to the lawn decor — and it’s already turning the neighborhood into a holiday hotspot. The display drew such big crowds last Halloween that police had to step in and help direct traffic around the block.
Would you make the drive to see the Grinch house in person or just watch it from your feed? 👀👇

WE’VE LEARNED FROM D-H-S- AND F-B-I DALLAS THAT TWO* ICE FACILITIES IN NORTH TEXAS RECEIVED ENVELOPES THAT CONTAINED A WHITE POWDERY SUBSTANCE.

(MAP)
ONE OF THOSE ENVELOPES WAS ADDRESSED TO THE DALLAS FIELD OFFICE AND DISCOVERED AT THE DALLAS ICE FACILITY OFF OF STEMMONS FREEWAY….AND THE OTHER WAS FOUND AT THE ICE OFFICE IN IRVING ON JOHN CARPENTER FREEWAY.
HAZMAT CREWS WERE CALLED TO INVESTIGATE…
THIS WAS THE SCENE EARLIER AT THE DALLAS FIELD OFFICE…YOU CAN SEE A NUMBER OF LAW ENFORCEMENT UNITS RESPONDED TO THE SCENE.
YOU’LL REMEMBER AT THIS PARTICULARR OFFICE, THERE WAS A DEADLY SHOOTING IN SEPTEMBER AFTER A MAN SHOT AND KILLED TWO DETAINEES AND INJURED ANOTHER BEFORE KILLING HIMSELF.
BOTH D-H-S AND ICE SAY THEY ARE SEEING A MASSIVE INCREASE IN THREATS AGAINST ICE OFFICERS.

THIS IS ALSO A SCARY SITUATION FOR THE PEOPLE…INCLUDING MANY FAMILIES WITH CHLDREN…WHO COME TO THIS FACILITY FOR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS THAT ARE CRUCIAL FOR THEIR IMMIGRATION PROCESS.

DENTON, Texas — Denton police fatally shot a man who allegedly fired a gun toward officers early Sunday, officials say.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a man suspected of shooting at unoccupied vehicles in the 1300 block of Oxford Lane around 4 a.m. Nov. 2, police say.
The man fired his weapon as officers arrived on scene, officers then established a perimeter and tried to communicate with the man, according to a press release.
The man allegedly refused to comply with officers’ commands and fired his weapon toward the officers, officials say. The officers then returned fire and hit the man, according to the press release.
Officers administered first aid and medics transported the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police say. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man, pending family notification.
No one else was injured during the incident, officials say.
The four officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an Internal Affairs investigation into the incident, according to the Denton Police Department. The officers involved weren’t identified.
The Texas Rangers are also investigating the shooting, according to the press release.
