New Poster design.

Animals of El Salvador in languages historically spoken in the country with a map. Languages included are Spanish, English, Nahuat, Lenca, Mayan (Classical Glyphs, Ch'orti and Poqomam), Xinca and Cacaopera (Matagalpa). All animals are native to the region: Torogoz, Jaguars, Hawks, Fish, Snakes, Armadillos, Toads, Turkeys and Alligators.

After a WHOLE week of research and linguistics application, I made this thing!

I wanted to see if I can write modern Mayan languages using their own ancient Hieroglyphs. I had to learn how the Mayan Glyphs worked, and how they correlate to their modern descendants. I chose Ch'orti' my closest Mayan kin (they live in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala) and they are direct descendants of Classical Mayan, which most of the glyphs represent. I chose a Bible verse as my subject (since a translation of that book was already made and it's the most comprehensive translated text I could use to study the language and in a short amount of time).

I will write a blog detailing exactly how I made the glyphs work for Ch'orti' since modifications needed to be made. (Even Spanish, a decendant of Roman Latin, needed diacritics and new letters for today's language).

A dream come true for a nerd like me.

An Etsy customer saw my art and asked me for permission to put it on a unnamed Netflix TV series for a Salvadoran Restaurant scene. That show is Running Point (rated TV-MA) I saw them in the beginning of episode 10. Saw the Guanaco drawing and barely got to see a glimpse of the Anamorós drawing.

There was a third art piece which was the Torogoz Painting, but didn't get to see it in the camera shots, so it's probably hidden somewhere in the restaurant, Maya's Grill. Too bad, that one was my favorite.
