While I'm out celebrating this amazing country with the family, my mind’s still racing with everything on my plate. On one side I have my household obligations, handling my day job, and spending valuable time with the family. While on the other, pursing a sustainable path in my DJ business, which as some are intimately aware, will entail a tremendous amount of behind the scenes work before even getting to do your thing on a dance floor.
It's times like these where I get to simplify the hustle and come back to the basics which is to just keep my hands on the board and remind myself why I'm doing this crazy thing.
I'm still making strides in my scratching and I'm thankful to the legendary for sharing the knowledge and inspiring my own little routines. As well as the many other local DJ's who can run circles around me and continue to inspire me. You may know who you are 🫵
It's not an easy skill and I'm sick and tired of hearing excuses from others in the industry how "most clients don't care" to seek DJ's who know how to scratch or even who know how to beat match for that matter. If you're betting on others' ignorance, that's no different than a mechanic taking advantage of someone who is unknowledgable on their vehicle.
Not such a hot take in my opinion. Let's make NOT striving to do and be better just as taboo as using the sync button!!
