I never planned on writing children’s books.
One morning, coffee in hand, I was reading Scripture when, instead of just reading the words, I saw a story.
A pup living an uptown life in Texas, taking in the sounds of the city. And in following this dog’s life, a story started to unfold, explaining to a child how John 1 and Genesis 1 go together.
So I wrote it down.
A few days later, another story came so fast I had to voice memo it on I-30 so I wouldn’t lose it. A third came that week, on a flight home to Florida.
Three stories in days. Not a coincidence.
That’s how Cowboy’s Children’s Classics began, and it taught me something I want you to know:
If God is the Creator, and we are made in His image, and if we’ve become His daughters and sons, then creativity isn’t reserved for the people who call themselves “creative.”
There may be something in you that you haven’t given yourself permission to explore yet.
Maybe it’s writing. Painting. Singing. Building. Starting something you don’t quite have words for yet.
Don’t dismiss it just because it feels a little out there. Pray into it. Ask God what He might be inviting you to create.
And when something comes, write it down. You might be surprised by the gold God has already placed inside you.
