Her SUV was going under, and the person who could save her just happened to be having lunch nearby.
The woman drove her SUV into the water behind a seafood restaurant in Virginia Beach and quickly found herself trapped as the vehicle began sinking. The doors wouldn't open, and bystanders rushed to help, smashing windows as the water rose. Among them was Jeremy Way, a Navy rescue swimmer with 17 years of experience who happened to be eating nearby. He placed her in a cross-chest carry and swam her safely back to shore while others assisted from the water.
A few minutes earlier, he was simply eating lunch. A few minutes later, someone's life depended on him.
