Faith over fear. 🙇‍♂️🙏

This new chapter of my life is probably the scariest one yet.

Chapter 1. I started posting content to help grow my barber career, and at first, it didn’t work. It wasn’t until I started putting myself in front of the camera that everything took off. I was scared and embarrassed to be on camera, but pushing through that fear helped me build a resilient mindset.

Chapter 2. I left my hometown in Kansas and moved to Texas. I didn’t really have a game plan, but I knew that if I could take that risk once, I could do it again in business. Moving to a new state where I only knew two people was tough at first, but it showed me what I was really made of.

Chapter 3. This is where I am now. I’m taking another risk and stepping into a completely new business adventure. And honestly, this one scares me the most because I have a family relying on me now.

But instead of letting that fear stop me, I’m using it as motivation to make this work.

Every time I’ve done something that felt nerve-racking or risky, I’ve come out on the other side with a new lesson, a stronger mindset, and somehow… a win.

So I’m reminding myself once again:

Faith over fear.

I don’t know exactly how this chapter is going to unfold, but I know I’ve made it through every chapter before this.

And this time, I’ve got God on my side. 🙏

A lot of barbers stay underpaid because their content isn’t doing its job.

When your social media starts bringing in the right people, prices get easier. You stop trying to convince every client and start attracting the ones who already see the value.

That’s where better content changes the whole business.

Growing up, I always avoided public speaking.

In school, I never had the confidence in myself or the courage to face that fear. I was probably one of the worst in my class when it came to articulating my thoughts—and honestly, I still struggle with it to this day.

In high school, I was one of those ESL students. The funny part is, I’m not even a great Spanish speaker. 😂 I literally sucked at both languages.

I was put into this box and told I needed extra help with communication.

And we can all agree public speaking is hard. We all get nervous when we have to stand in front of a crowd.

But for me, it’s more than just being nervous.

Mentally, I have all these thoughts running through my head:

“What if I stumble over my words and embarrass myself?”

“Do I even know what I’m talking about?”

“Can I actually deliver what they came here to hear?”

I’ve spent my entire life avoiding public speaking.

And now, I’m choosing to do the exact opposite.

Because I actually WANT to do it.

My goal in this career is to help as many barbers as possible. And I can’t accomplish that by talking to one barber at a time.

I have to scale my impact.

And one of the most effective ways I can do that is by standing in front of crowds and sharing what I’ve learned.

I couldn’t do this without GOD.

He’s helped me understand my purpose, what I truly value, and the kind of impact I want to have.

He’s taught me to face my fears with Him by my side and to trust that when I walk in my purpose, everything else will fall into place.

I personally want to thank Nelson Tovar for always pushing me to become better and for watering the seed of putting faith first in my life.

Thank you to School of Barbering | Barber Education for giving me a team that will help me through this next chapter.

And thank you to the guys at Faded Culture for giving me the platform and opportunity to share my knowledge. 🙏

Looking back, almost every major success I’ve had came AFTER I did something that scared me.

So maybe this is your sign.

Do the thing that scares you.

Take the chance.

Face the fear.

And prove to yourself who you truly are.
