A 1987 Buick GNX with 30 miles on it just sold for $427,000 on Bring a Trailer. Its window sticker in 1987 read $29,389.

The auction ended on Thursday, September 24, after 57 bids. The car is number 450 of the 547 GNX cars Buick built, and every one of them was black. It shows 30 miles. The seller was a dealer in Carrollton, Texas, north of Dallas.

This is not the first time this exact car has crossed the block. The same GNX sold on Bring a Trailer in July 2024 for $220,000, showing 26 miles. Two years and 4 miles later, it sold again for $427,000.

The window sticker copies that come with the car tell the rest of the story. The base Regal came to $18,394, and that included a $430 destination charge. The GNX option added $10,995. Total in 1987: $29,389. That is the sticker price, not what the first buyer paid.

For anyone who was not around in 1987: Buick built the GNX with ASC and McLaren to mark the end of the turbo Grand National's run. It uses a 3.8-liter turbocharged V6, factory-rated at 276 horsepower and 360 lb-ft, backed by a four-speed automatic. Those are Buick's numbers from the day, not a modern test.

Would you drive it, or keep it at 30 miles?

Every $1 on the store is an entry into GMG #32 — the Fox Factory Ram DC650. gasmonkeygarage.com
No purchase necessary — free entry available. Ends 10/04/26.
