There is a big push by Republicans in Congress to pass the SAVE Act. It has already passed the House of Representatives, but it has yet to pass the Senate. There’s so much talk about this bill, but what does it even do?

The SAVE Act disproportionately harms Native communities — and I know we are not the only ones.

The SAVE Act is a bill that would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote. This makes it harder for everyday people to register, and in more rural communities, people may have to drive hours to be able to show documentation in-person. This bill has already passed the House of Representatives— but not the Senate.
