In an extraordinary act of bravery, 11-year-old Rebecca Munkombwe from Zimbabwe saved her 9-year-old friend, Latoya Muwani, from a crocodile attack in October 2019.
The two girls were swimming in a stream near Sinderela Village in Hwange when Latoya was suddenly grabbed by a crocodile and dragged underwater. Without hesitation, Rebecca jumped into the water and swam toward her friend, who was struggling for her life.
Showing remarkable courage and presence of mind, Rebecca climbed onto the back of the crocodile and fought to make it release its grip.
Her actions worked, the crocodile let go, and she managed to pull her friend to safety. Latoya sustained minor injuries to her leg, while Rebecca came out unscathed.
