You can still hear every single one of these. The clunk of the cassette door. The anti-skip CD player freaking out when you walked too fast. The radio waiting all day for your favourite song so you could record it before the DJ started talking again. This was the real playlist generation. No Spotify. No Bluetooth. No unlimited skips. Just tangled headphones, AA batteries, scratched CDs, mixtapes with handwritten tracklists, and stereo systems that made your bedroom feel like a nightclub. And somehow… music felt bigger back then.
