The Avidity Awards count it a high honor and privilege to celebrate and present a Lifetime Achievement Award to a remarkable choirmaster and music educator, Dr. Linda Searight and the remarkable award-winning choir she founded, God's Property during the television taping of the 10th Annual Avidity Awards, presented by Avidity TV and the Avidity Recording Academy - ARA!

Formed in Dallas, Texas, and led by choir director, Dr. Linda Searight, God's Property brought a fresh, youthful energy to contemporary gospel music, blending traditional gospel with elements of R&B, soul, and hip-hop.

Their breakthrough came with the 1997 album "God's Property from Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation", which featured the chart-topping hit "Stomp"—a groundbreaking gospel anthem that received widespread mainstream airplay. The album went multi-platinum and won a Grammy Award, helping redefine gospel music for a new generation.

Today is JUNETEENTH. 160 years ago, slaves in Texas were notified that they were free, more than 2 years AFTER President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

TOMORROW, the Avidity Awards and the New Orleans Chapter of Avidity Recording Academy - ARA will host our 2nd Annual Juneteenth Freedom Concert.
