NEW EXHIBIT honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. AND Nelson Mandela is NOW OPEN at the African American Museum of Dallas.

Designed as a learning-centered experience, Icons of Liberation: King and Mandela invites children, families, educators and community groups to actively explore ideas of citizenship, leadership and standing for justice. Rather than a traditional walk-through, do-not-touch exhibit, the gallery features interactive activity stations that encourage visitors to pause, reflect, read, write and engage with the material in meaningful ways.

The exhibit also serves as a thematic introduction to the Museum’s upcoming presentation, Nelson Mandela: The Official Exhibition, opening June 13-Nov. 1, 2026.

THIS YEAR: Pay attention to what is going on at the African American Museum of Dallas. The new exhibits are incredible! So proud of the new leadership and where everything is headed.

We confirmed with the Fort Worth Buddhist Temple that the monks are scheduled to return to downtown Fort Worth on February 14. They are inviting the community out for a final peace walk beginning at 8AM on the 14th, traveling from downtown back to the temple.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The 5th Annual MLK Fest is this weekend at 9AM at the MLK Community Center. For those looking to get involved and honor MLK through service and community, here's an excellent Community Clean-up Project for South Dallas - Fair Park AND new mural activation that you can help paint and install. Everything will culminate with a Resource Fair and Block Party back the MLK Community Center beginning at 12PM Noon. FREE LUNCH IS PROVIDED!
