We would like to take a moment to address the event that took place on 9-20-2026. Firstly we would like to say that we do not condone violence against anyone in anyway for any reason. There is a difference between being into the music and dancing and moshing with willing participants, and physically attacking people. We were saddened to hear that the event last night that was supposed to be a benefit for a member of the music scene in need was ruined by some bad actors who chose to bring chaos to what should have been an evening of community togetherness.
Because of this incident and after conversations with the father of one of the people involved, we have made the decision to no longer rent space for performance. We started Jam Station to make band rehearsal space affordable to all levels of musicians. The performance space was what we thought would be a nice perk for the scene. However we do not want to provide a place where bad actors abuse the facility and ultimately affect the music scene negatively.
This was the 2nd event that had been held in the dock, and the 5th event for performance that we had at Jam Station.
9-20-2026 We provided the space in the loading dock for a few local bands to hold a benefit for a member of the music scene that had a seizure at the previous weekend's show to help cover his medical bills. All booking for the dock or basement performance space is handled by a third party. Anytime the venue is booked, the customer is required to bring their own personnel including floor staff and sound engineer. If the event is to be held outside, the customer is required to bring their own sound gear as well as provide their own sound engineer. This night was no different.
This morning, 9-21-2026 we received a call from someone about their son being attacked at the urging of one of the bands during their performance. He provided us with video showing the incident from in front the stage towards the opening of the dock entrance. The video which most have seen at this point shows attendees standing at the front of the stage area on the right hand side with people moshing in the middle. An altercation happened between two attendees and someone on the stage began calling for the removal of one of the persons involved. Somebody in the crowd picked up one of the people involved in the incident by his waist and was immediately met with 2 of the event staff attempting to separate the initial 2 individuals and the 3rd individual that was attempting to intervene. Then roughly 10 people including one member from a previous band jumped in to the middle of the 2 staff members attempting to break up the fight. Staff managed to separate everyone and pickup up the attendee that they thought was causing the problem and escorted him to the gate.
We were not alerted to this event happening right after it happened. Later in the evening we were alerted to someone needing an ambulance because they had fallen or hit their head. We came down to the dock to see the EMT's tending to someone that they eventually transported. We do not know the circumstances behind what happened to them, but we are actively gathering information.
Shortly before the ambulance left the decision was made to stop the performances and send everyone home. By that point the police arrived and they were telling people in the parking lot who were already on their way out to leave and not hangout in the parking lot. Nobody from Jam Station nor any of the promotors or their staff were contacted by the police at that time. After the parking lot had cleared out the police left.
Speaking with the father today was the first time we heard the term "crowdkiller" and wasn't sure that we heard it right. After seeing a few other posts mentioning "crowdkiller" I personally am shocked that this would be such a thing. Why would we as a music community allow people to come to any of our shows and attack people who are not participating in moshing in any way? It is our view that if this behavior shows up at any event anywhere, that those acting like that should be removed immediately and charged with assault. Period. Likewise, anybody inciting violence against anybody for any reason has no place in our music scene. We must police our own and hold ourselves and those around us to a higher standard. If we do not, we will not have a music scene. That is something that none of us wants. We must be better and we must do better.
