In SMAW welding, the electrode classification defines fundamental characteristics such as:
pe*******on, type of slag, polarity, mechanical resistance, hydrogen content and behavior of the electric arc.
Each electrode is designed for specific applications and selecting the wrong one can generate discontinuities, lack of fusion, porosity or loss of mechanical properties.
E6013
Rutile electrode for carbon steel. Produces smooth arc, low pe*******on and easy slag removal. Recommended for thin blades, aesthetic cords and light maintenance applications.
E6011
Cellulosic electrode with deep pe*******on and excellent stability on contaminated surfaces. Suitable for field repairs, oxidized structures and welding in forced positions.
E6010
High pe*******on cellulosic electrode designed for DC+ current. Used in welding tubes, root joints and critical joints where maximum pe*******on and control of the melt bath is required.
E7018
Low hydrogen electrode with minimum resistance of 70 ksi. Generates deposits of high mechanical quality and low susceptibility to seizing. Widely used in structures, bridges and heavy fabrication.
ENi-CI
Nickel-based electrode for molten iron repair. Reduce thermal stresses and minimize risk of cracking during industrial recovery and maintenance processes.
E308L
Austenitic stainless electrode with low carbon content. Used in stainless steel type 304/304L for sanitary and food applications and for conducting corrosive fluids.
The quality of a welded joint does not depend solely on the skill of the welder; It also depends on selecting the correct consumable according to the base material, welding position, type of joint and mechanical requirements of the project.
