Today, my daughter is moving to university to pursue a degree in Biomedical Science. She is so excited to begin this new chapter in her life. She worked incredibly hard throughout high school, earning multiple awards for her leadership and consistently making the honor roll list.

I’m truly happy for her, but it’s also bittersweet—because nothing can truly prepare a mother (or parent) for becoming an empty nester. I’m going to miss seeing her every day, but I’ve accepted the reality that she has to go out into the world and live her own life.

My daughter was born three years after my car accident, and I’m not going to lie—it was a bit challenging raising a child with physical limitations. But I did it—and it took a village.

We’ve traveled to so many countries together. I know I haven’t shared much of that, because she valued her privacy. Now that she’s turned 18, she’s allowing me to share a little more about her. She’s not a big fan of social media, and I’ve always respected that.

My home won’t be the same, and my life won’t be the same—but I’ll keep doing what I’ve always done: being a proud mom and moving forward.

No matter how far she goes, she will always carry a piece of my heart with her—and I’ll always be her biggest cheerleader, from near or far. ❤️
