I am an entrepreneur and personal trainer in Dallas, and my dream is to open a gym that truly caters to women’s needs, goals, and insecurities, as well as powerlifters. What will set Iron Geisha LLC apart is the thoughtful attention to the little nuances and challenges that new and/or women members encounter. This will affect everything from the layout to the machines and the services we offer. For example, most gyms are designed by men with efficiency as the highest priority, which can lead to uncomfortable situations—like abductor/adductor machines placed out in the open, making awkward eye contact with other members. Most gyms in the DFW area have only a handful of platforms and lack proper powerlifting accessories, such as rubber weights and soft platform rubbers, which aren’t ideal as you climb in weight.
The funds raised will help me start obtaining machines as I scout locations for the gym. My business model is unique: I’ll offer memberships and in-house training options, but also provide space for local trainers who can pay monthly to utilize the facility for their clients. This approach will create a welcoming, flexible environment for both members and trainers, ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need to succeed.
I have been in the gym for over a decade and started powerlifting in 2021. I’ve overcome many obstacles, including a second ACL reconstruction and the mental struggles of getting back into the gym. I want to use the methods I learned to help others create healthy habits and build confidence in the fitness realm.
