OptiLink Team Member Spotlight

Meet Derek Cleary! Born and raised in Dalton, Derek has been a dedicated part of the Dalton Utilities family for over 25 years. He started right out of high school in Meter Reading, moved into Billing, and now plays a vital role in the IT Warehouse as an OSP Warehouse Coordinator. His journey has given him a unique perspective across many areas of the company.

Outside of work, Derek leads an exciting life as a UFC judge, traveling across the country on weekends for mixed martial arts events. He and his wife, Alex, love spending time by the pool and exploring new places together. One of his proudest personal accomplishments? Earning a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu—a goal that took years of dedication and hard work.

Derek says what he enjoys most about his role is the variety of tasks and the amazing people he gets to work with. “Dalton Utilities is more than just a great place to work—it’s a family.”

We’re so grateful to have Derek on the OptiLink team. His commitment, versatility, and positive attitude make a lasting impact every day!
