Firehouse Dog

Firehouse Dog Page for announcements for a Wednesday 4-6 pm radio show and for playlists from previous shows. Suggestions for themes or requests are welcome. F.D. Thanks!

The station is WXCI 91.7 fm in Danbury CT and you can stream it live at wxci.org. DJ is Firehouse Dog. Weekly radio show on WXCI 91.7 FM Danbury CT. I'm Firehouse Dog, a veteran of three other stations (WTJU in Charlottesville, VA; WMWC in Fredericksburg, VA; and WQFS in Greensboro NC). Now I host Kaleidoscope, a show dedicated to exploring all of the recorded history of music from all points on

the globe in any genre. Open your ears and come on a journey of discovery. specializes in finding out more about music that he may never have heard before, trying to expose the listener to something new every show. Previously, he hosted a show on WXCI that was mostly thematic, exploring music a genre at a time. It was called Kitchen Sink and was an hour on Friday afternoons. Due to a shut down of the station, he was closed out of the studio for a while, but continued to make playlists for his listeners. Playlists from Kitchen Sink and the hiatus are still posted here as well. There was a period when I was able to send recorded shows and they're posted here, too. Now I'm back on the air. Catch me from 4-6 pm on Wednesdays locally at 91.7 fm and streaming live at wxci.org. I hope you enjoy what you hear, and send me a message with suggestions of music that I can include.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Phil Wiggins, a talented acoustic blues harmonica player. He was a kind and supportive individual who will be greatly missed. His memory and the impact he made on the music community will continue to inspire.

Well it has been a long time since I posted on this page. Here's a playlist below for last Wednesday, 6-14-23 aired from 4 to 6 pm on WXCI 91.7 fm Danbury CT and streamed at wxci.org. It is mostly Turkish rock and US folk and bluegrass with other bits thrown in. Hope you enjoy. Sorry for not posting for quite a while.
I've got a series I put together that explored the World of Traditional Music that I will post soon. I think if's 16 playlists of traditional songs, at least one from every country in the world. For larger countries, I split it up more by ethnic group or region, for instance India which has a rich and varied musical landscape. So look for that sometime soon. For now, check out the other playlists from previous shows on this YouTube channel and subscribe if you so desire. Thanks!

No show today because of dastardly outside influences. Nothing dire or dangerous, just a necessary side-track.
Please tune in next week, Wednesday 2/23/22 from 4 to 6 pm on WXCI 91.7 fm and streaming live at wxci.org.

The Kitchen Sink Show brought to you by the Firehouse Dog

Weekly radio show on WXCI 91.7 FM Danbury CT and streaming at wxci.org

This is my fourth radio station. I started as a DJ on WTJU 91.1 fm in Charlottesville, VA also streaming at wtju.net I was on that station for four years. I then shared a show on WMWC in Fredericksburg, VA for a year. While on the air at the time, it now is streaming only at wmwc.umwblogs.org Several years later, I landed a show called Eclectic and Electric Folk on WQFS 90.9 fm in Greensboro NC for two years and streaming, as all of these are, at tunein.com.
