🚨 SEVERE WEATHER ALERT FOR CENTRAL ILLINOIS 🚨
Residents across Vermilion County and Central Illinois should closely monitor weather conditions today as a significant severe weather threat develops throughout the morning and evening hours.
Forecasters are warning that 2 rounds of severe weather, one round moving into our area between 10am-2pm, and the second round starting as early as 4pm, may support damaging straight-line winds, large hail, and the potential for strong tornadoes. Storms could intensify rapidly, leaving little time to react once warnings are issued.
⚠️ Now is the time to prepare:
• Review your severe weather safety plan.
• Ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including overnight alerts.
• Identify your safest shelter location, preferably an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
• Secure outdoor furniture and loose objects that could become airborne in strong winds.
• Charge phones and emergency devices in case of power outages.
If a warning is issued for your area, take it seriously and seek shelter immediately. Do not wait until you can see severe weather approaching. Storms can become dangerous very quickly.
Stay weather aware throughout the day, keep an eye on trusted forecasts, and be prepared to act if conditions deteriorate.
