"The Darien Arts Center has appointed Wendy Mitchell as its new executive director. She brings over 20 years of nonprofit experience in administration, programming, fundraising, and grant writing.

"Mitchell previously led the Sandy Hook Arts Center for Kids — a nonprofit she co-founded with fellow Newtown High School alumni following the 2012 school shooting."

Gregory Sohns, 74, passed away last October. His obituary has just been made public. He was a longtime member of the Darien RTM and also served on the town Board of Finance.

"Greg practiced as a corporate attorney for over 30 years in New York City. [...] Greg will be remembered for his love of family, generosity and consideration of everyone he met, sense of humor, devotion to learning and scholarship, his stories and use of language, and for his love of Shakespeare and J.S. Bach."

Sarah Rex Geary, 63, passed away on April 7. She was cheerleading captain at Darien High School.

"Most friends and associates never guessed that for 50 years Sarah navigated her condition as a Type 1 diabetic. She was an inspiration to anyone who knew her, never complaining or feeling pitiful, rather quietly and bravely handling her diabetes. She courageously carried to term and delivered three healthy children. Nothing held her back."

A 47-year-old Norwalk man set up a hidden video camera in the bathroom of a Darien business, capturing images of people, but not their faces, Darien police said.

The camera was discovered in a business’ bathroom, concealed beneath the sink. An investigation revealed that the camera had been there since the day before.

Carolyn Miller, 88, passed away on March 30: "Carolyn proudly served as the Republican Registrar of Voters for 14 years and the Tax Collector for 12 years."

"Carolyn was instrumental in establishing the Darien High School Varsity Boys Lacrosse program in 1982." A 61-year resident of Darien, she spent her life actively involved in many aspects of the community. She met many life-long friends through [...] the Darien Women’s Republican Association, serving on the board of the YWCA and Newcomers groups, and the St. Martha’s Guild at St. Luke’s Parish.

The late Rosemary Quill, who recently passed away at the age of 90 in Darien, was a British woman who married an American G.I. stationed in Britain in 1953. They moved around a lot in the U.S.

"Throughout her life, Rosemary held leadership positions in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, school PTAs, 4-H, Pony Club, garden clubs, art councils, and Questers Club in Chicago; Fayetteville, Pennsylvania; and Rockville, Highland, and Silver Spring, Maryland."
