The Town of Dartmouth and the Buzzards Bay Coalition want to buy the former Hawthorne Country Club site instead of allowing a planned 138-unit 40B project called The Residences at Hawthorne.

A Town meeting would consider using $1 million in Community Preservation funds, matched by the Coalition, to acquire 25–27 acres for 65 market-rate 55+ units known as Paskamansett Valley. The Coalition would then buy the remaining land for about $7 million to conserve habitat, protect the Paskamansett River and drinking-water supply, and eventually add public trails.

A warrant that would replace the Residences at Hawthorne with senior housing will appear at the Fall Town Meeting, which would be known as the Paskamansett Valley proposal. The Buzzards Bay Coalition is partnering with the Town of Dartmouth to conserve the land where the Hawthorne Country Club used....

Meet Fall River Forever Paws Pet of the Week Juicebox! She loves her walks, can chase a ball with the best of them, and will happily toss around a plush toy. She is very good on a leash, barely pulls at all, and listens to corrections.
