The OHSAA is set to host the inaugural 2026 Girls High School Flag Football State Championship this Saturday, May 16, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium! 🏆🙌

After battling through regional tournaments hosted by the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, eight elite teams have earned their spot on the biggest stage in football. With over 160 schools now playing across Ohio, this sanctioned championship represents a massive step forward for female athletes in the Buckeye State.

In a massive week for the sport, Kansas, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. have all officially sanctioned girls flag football as a high school championship sport. That brings us to 20 states nationwide, with New Jersey and North Carolina expected to join the list next week!

Franchises like the Chiefs and Commanders aren't just supporting these leagues—they are actively building a new professional pipeline. From a low-cost solution for Title IX to creating the next generation of Olympic athletes, flag football is officially a core priority for the NFL's future.
