The Story You Want To Tell

The Story You Want To Tell Cynthia Rush helps others preserve their family stories by turning conversations into soft bound books families can treasure for lifetimes.

I grew up in a family of high achievers. I didn't teach myself to read at age two, I didn't become a Rhodes Scholar, and I wasn't the sweetest or most patient person in the world. I believed I should make a huge difference in the world. I knew I could write. I thought I was supposed to write magnificent writing that would change everyone's lives. The stories I edit/ write/ preserve through TheStor

yYouWantToTell.com are crucially important to the people who write them and the people who read them. Helping others preserve family stories is what I am meant to do.

Update - March 2026:
Life here is good. I've had a long haul. I had 4 years of problems from 4 infected dental implants, a problem that was diagnosed a couple years after Lockdown began, which coincided with the death of my husband of 30 years, Pat Coffey. So it's been six years or more of difficulty.
But things are better! I finally got a permanent replacement bridge to go on my permanent replacement implants, so when I smile, I look like the old me!
For some reason, this has improved my energy level.
I have not been bustling around, looking for folks who are ready to record their stories, but I am revived! I'm ready for discussion about your book if you're ready to begin the process of writing it.
Write to me at: [email protected]. In the subject line, please write: The Story You Want To Tell.
Have a good day, and have a fascinating life!

About memoirs...

Michelle Burford has carved out a niche helping famous Black women like Cicely Tyson, Alicia Keys and Gabby Douglas write their memoirs. But she can tell many kinds of stories, including her own.

Why preserve the story of someone you love?

“Painting is magic,” he said to Paul. “You can start with next to nothing and still do anything you want.”

The little boy looked the old man straight in the eye. “Even bring something to life?”

“Yes, you can bring things to life,” he replied. “Or prolong the life they had.”

The old man took a paintbrush and drew a picture of an orange on the white canvas. Then he peeled his own orange and ate it. “You see, my orange is gone and yet it isn’t. I still have this one.”

What an invisible dog knows about the tenacity of the human spirit and the healing power of art.
