Movement was medicine—and Riley was my running partner through every storm.

While pouring my heart into this book—over 250 hours in just three weeks—I slipped away to my mom’s for a short reset. For the first time, I decided to let Riley stay home so she could bond with her new little brother, Whiskey, and settle in with our new roommate, Dawn.

And even though I know she’s safe… my whole rhythm feels different without her.

I keep waking up reaching for her.
She isn’t here.
I keep thinking it’s time for her walk.
She isn’t here.

It’s incredible how our fur babies weave themselves into our daily heartbeat. Their presence becomes its own kind of grounding—soft, steady, always right where you need it. Being away from her is a reminder of how deeply love anchors us, even in the quiet moments where we feel the space they usually fill.

Riley girl, mama misses you.
I can’t wait to see you, hold you, and feel that little spark of joy you bring into every room.

Until then… keep loving on your new little brother. And know I’m loving you from here.
