In 2015, we moved out of the basement into an office in Dayton, KY, rolled out National releases by new friends Daniel Martin Moore and Jeremy Pinnell, teamed up with skateboarding legend Mike Vallely and his Street

Plant Brand to provide music for a feature-length skate film and routed our artists on tours across the country and overseas. SofaBurn strives to involve itself with artists, musicians and performers that we find engaging and compelling in an effort that our collective work might find a wider audience.

We’d like to highlight Nick Dittmeier & the Sawdusters tune “Hurt You” from his latest release ‘Apparition.’ All of us here at SofaBurn have been digging on this track from day one, and it continues to be one we constantly spin at the office and on our own playlists. On Wednesday, July 29, listen to the next single from Mike Montgomery’ highly anticipated new album, Moments of Riot.

For the track “Of Chrome,” Mike Montgomery had this to say about where the song came from and how it developed:

“I play in a band called R.RING with my song partner kelleydeal. For our last album, War Poems, We Rested, we did a short run of poetry chap books that accompanied the first pressing of the LPs. Chapbook curator Matt Hart chose a poet for each song of the album whose task it was to compose a poem riffing off their assigned song. I loved every bit of the process, so I, in return, used featured chap book poet Amber Tamblyn’s piece as a jumping off point when writing this song.

The track features Mike Montgomery on vocals and guitar, Kevin Schmidt on bass, Rick McCarty on drums, with backing vocals from Kelley Deal, Kate Wakefield, and Kristian Svitak.

“Of Chrome” will be available on all streaming platforms July 29. Moments of Riot releases September 25.

SofaBurn Records and Double Helix Records' own Chad Price is hitting the road this summer with legendary punk band ALL! In case you didn’t know, ALL consists of Stephen Egerton, Karl Alvarez, and Bill Stevenson - better known as 3/4 of (yeah, THAT Descendents).

Along with his own band , Chad has fronted ALL since the mid-90’s, and the time has come to rip some gigs once again.

Catch the band on the road in the Midwest starting the end of July through the first week or so of August with Snodgrass + Stevensons and !

Please join us in wishing our very own Mike Montgomery a very happy birthday today! Whether it’s behind the console at Candyland, wielding a jazzmaster with Ampline/Nervous Verbs/R.Ring, ripping it up on a board, creating immense art, tearing up the office floor (don’t ask), managing the label (we could go on and on here, he doesn’t stop), Mike is a steadfast, unapologetic, kind, incredible friend, father, and human being. We are immensely lucky to have him.
