The Soul of Front Street – Front Street Art showcases the Dayton community’s creativity

Walking down Front Street in Dayton, visitors can expect to see a number of murals. Contrasting these colorful murals, visitors will also find three industrial buildings that were once manufacturing hubs. In 1965, however, these warehouses were transformed into art galleries and exhibits for the Dayton community.

Today, those buildings, now Front Street Art, are home to more than 150 unique studios, galleries and boutiques that host the hundreds of artists working there.

35 Years of Contemporary Art in Dayton – The Contemporary Dayton celebrates bold exhibitions, creative dialogue and a new season

Thirty-five years ago, a group of passionate artists and community leaders came together around a shared conviction: Dayton deserved a place where contemporary art could thrive. In 1991, they founded the Dayton Visual Arts Center (DVAC) to connect the community with the artists and ideas shaping our time. What began as an artist-driven initiative quickly grew into something larger—a gathering place for experimentation, dialogue and creative exchange.
